Abbie Horberry (b.2001) is a Scottish artist working in London.
Abbie’s painting practice is rooted in an exploration of the unseen that shapes both the physical world and human experience. Her work involves unconventional oil painting methods built upon a physical process of dyeing. Echoing the creases and folds that appear alchemically, she responds to the natural structure of the surface, layering oil paint with intricate texture, pattern and colour stained in memory by her childhood spent in the Scottish Highlands. Abbie is interested in binaries, the tensions of abstract expressionism and the microscopic universe. Through this work, she plays with the visible and invisible, hoping to uncover deeper connections of our shared experience.
