‘Haud’ Series
2025-2026
The word ‘Haud’ in Scottish Doric simply means “to hold,” inspired by ‘The Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction’ by Ursula Le Guin, an essay that centres care over conquest and violence, proposing that the world is ultimately sustained through quiet, subtle, everyday acts of gathering, tending, and mending. The ‘Haud’ paintings explore themes of healing and gentleness as a form of resistance.
